65 Buick Spec. build

Launching!
iTrader: (7)
On our 65 el camino, I replaced a 4 speed with a turbo 400. All I did was cut the tranny mount tab off of the cross member and flip it to the back side and welded it back on. It worked mint. What year Camaro did your gas pedal come from? I am wanting to switch to a cable and don't want to spend the coin on a lokar.

Made some more progress, installed the engine, trans, for the final time, mounted the turbo, all the exhaust to the turbo-was going to have all the pipes coated, but shot them with the Eastwood header paint-good thing i didnt have them coated, when i sprayed the inside i found a leak in the 4" pipe, so gotta weld it up and touch up the paint
Couple minor problems, i didnt realize i mounted the reg. right above where the 4" pipe goes, so i'll drill thru the mount and move it to the other side
I dont have full throttle pedal, no more adjustment at the TB, so i'll either weld up a bracket, or bend the pedal
The BBK TB linkage isnt the greatest design-most TB's have a V in the linkage to hold the cable, this one doesnt so the little barrel on the end of the cable doesnt stay centered in the linkage-i slid a piece of rubber over the cable, that helps, prob make something to keep it centered
Lots left to do, but it will go faster now

Starting to put stuff on for the final time, see if it fits like before I took it apart-not sure why it changes, lol
Decided to go with the Edelbrock 90 mm throttle body, fits the 90 deg adapter, and the throttle cable fits better than the BBK one, I have full travel
Have all my sensors now that fit the Holley harness, so pretty much down to wiring up the starter, alt, fuel pump and fans, run the feed and return fuel lines-prob start it up late Jan

When I was building my 69 chevelle, I saw a vette with a Procharger setup, thought it would make a neat package (I don't know much about newer vettes, had a ton of 60's back in the day)
So I used the vette Procharger setup, and all vette acces dr-it was bullet proof, and everything cleared-buying all the parts is expensive, but I scored everything off Ebay for this project, had all the brackets, PS, water pump, alt, even the AC stuff and the belts for $600-it was used, but all in good shape

Not a lot of visual progress, finishing up the wiring, pretty much all the plumbing is finished, turbo and fuel lines
Monday was moving day, lol, I had enough of laying on my back working on this thing-I have a lift in my other bay, try and keep it open for servicing the everyday cars, but I did all the oil changes, etc Sunday, so I moved the Buick to the lift-now I can finish all my brake lines, fish the return line back to the tank, etc
Test fit my fenders and had to move a couple things, better to do it now than find out later
Getting hit with a cold snap and snow, really tears up the fuel oil for the garage, so I back off for a couple days, but prob one good week of work and I can be ready to start, and a good week working on the fenders, wheel wells, install the front end
Gonna use the stock rear for a while, had the driveshaft cut, had to use adapter u joints on both ends-this rear will be just for driving as it wont last long, lol

Getting a lot of wiring finished, kind of waiting for my buddy that does interior work to come by and mark up the rear seat so the pattern matches the front Scat seats, then he will take them and recover
Once the seat is gone i'll tear out the front carpet and weld in a mount for the shifter
Did a test on the fuel system, ran each pump then both (Holley 1400)
and checked for leaks-only one leak, at the pump, lowest point of course, lol
I orig used a male union just to mount lines, then forgot to rem it and use the o ringed radius fitting-nothing like rem. 7 gallons of gas to replace a fitting
If all goes well, test fire next week
Solved my plug wire problem with a set of MSD ones, short, and you can bend the plug end to where you want it
You do have to be careful when sliding the coil end on, if you don't hear the click, its not seated and will slid off

Buick sees its shadow today
Well, the Buick saw its shadow today, final no snow, ice or 3" of water and mud
I decided to go for its maiden voyage-car ran great, everything worked, my tune from my Procharged chevelle was really close-the exhaust is louder than I expected, i'll look into some changes there
But was pretty happy with it, a little weaker than Past Procharged cars down low, but i'll see how it goes after tuning, rear change

Although the car ran fine, I was chasing a vibration-I pulled all the plugs, found #1 was wet-I guess if its not firing the Holley HP was comp. for that,
so i'll run a comp test, ck coil, wiring, see what I come up with
If it was down a cyl, could explain why it didn't feel as peppy as I thought
it would, although it still drove fine
