Default 8rib D1SC + 3.55" Blower Pulley = belt slip?

anyone running 3.55" pulley on a D1SC on normal 8 rib setup without belt slip?

hoping to run 3.55" Blower pulley on my D1SC, 8 rib setup with innovators west 10% overdrive crank pulley

was having minor belt slip issues on old setup with 3.9" blower pulley but that was with garbage stock procharger dongle and more restrictive motor and i'm not positive the pulleys were all aligned perfect. talked to procharger and they seemed to think big 4" intake and motor that breathes better will reduce belt slip big time too.

new setup with 3.55" pulley will be LME built forged 427 with MAST heads, 4" intake, all the goodies, etc. I don't want to go to direct/flip drive setup. Hoping for maybe 850whp

With the 3.55 pulley, As the belt wears (which won't take long) it is going to slip with the RPM you're going to be spinning the supercharger.
Put the direct drive on. It takes quite a bit of stress off the belt.
850whp will be achievable with your combo.

We did it back at the old shop with the above Corvette. We first used the stock block and crank with Compstar rods and Diamond pistons, with a D-1SC. This engine saw two hard years of use on a 2.1 mile road course at 16 psi and made 740 rwhp. This was with the ProCharger C5/C6 bracket assembly, with an Innovators West balancer. Bob

thanks guys, going to go with big turbo kit at the end of this year most likely so would rather just go with 3.75" or some larger blower pulley or do something else to adddress belt slip rather than sink more money into this supercharger setup.

anyone else out here have 3.55" pulley on a D1SC?

I ran a 3.40" pulley without much slip, but that's on an f-body with Aster's spring loaded tensioner.

Slo-Poc is running a 3.70" and thinking about trying the 3.55" at some point. He's running the 8rib and a A&A ProCharger bracket.

I ran a 3.55" Reichard pulley with an innovators balancer that measured 8.13". It was a truck blower setup so it shared a belt with all the accessories. 8-rib with an HD tensioner. 7000 engine rpm, 106% blower speed on the d1sc. I had zero slip using a gates "green belt". Made 23 psi on my iron 347" deal with a cam and ****. Ran 10.46 @ 126 mph at 4550lbs.

thanks Blown, was this with an auto? I know the Reichard pulleys can cause some issues for some people with stick shift cars and I'll have a 6 speed but I have a few grooves in my pulley too so will be similar to Reichard

thanks Detoxx,

slopoc's build was a bit of the inspiration for my current setup! his build is sick. I have the A&A bracket too and I guess 3.55" isn't that much different than 3.7"

I think I'm just going to do it and try the 3.55" pulley and see what happens, i have like 5 other pulleys of bigger size I can switch too if it doesn't work. Will be nice to have the midrange and torque that will come from more psi in the lower rpms.

I'll be running a huge 4" velocity stock style intake, on a high end 427 with big flowing MAST heads too so hopefully that will help keep psi down due to efficiency of the motor which should help reduce pressure/resistance for the blower

I'll be sure to post back here once I get it on and try it and hope it works.

Yes, it was through a 4l80 transmission. I had about 30 hard track passes on the same belt and it looked good as new when I pulled it off. Minimal stretch as well. After about 30 passes, I had an issue with the water pump pulley wanting to come off........so I went to a cog drive F2 set up.
