Turbo 5.3 280Z, "Reroy Chang" SBE 5.3/Billet 366/PG/8.8
Let me introduce Reroy Chang. Named by Sloppy Mechanics.
I picked up this Z in December. I had previously picked up a '72 240z, but it was in need of more work than I was interested in doing. I sent both cars to my friend Daryl Sheltry in Chickasha, Ok, since he has experience with LS swapping Z cars. His company DMH & Son did the major portions of the build.
We went with a stock bottom end 5.3 with 706 heads, a custom cam from John Bewly and LJMS, 1.76 Glide and a cast BW S366. I changed the turbo to a billet S366 shortly after the car arrived.
Rear is a slightly narrowed 8.8 with 3.73 gears and a ladder bar setup. 28 inch slicks.
The car weighs roughly 2450 without driver. I have not had it to the track yet, since I have been ironing out some things and tuning, but I have made a hit at The Pad in New Orleans (with the cheap generic non-adjustable shocks I had originally) and the car hooks pretty well. I am going to keep this an 1/8 mile car.
Anyway, here are some pics of it since I have owned it. I recently had it dipped in a custom green that is a combo of camo green and hunter green, I call it "Zero Green." I will be installing a pulse leash this weekend and hopefully I will get it out to the track soon.
