my setup was a similar lq4. similar size cam from tick. stock 317's cast s480 with race cover. and 91 pump gas

2.5# was 495whp,
4# was like 540whp
15#did 817whp

this was with very little tuning just making sure afrs were safe.

i would guess 10# would be an easy 675 whp.

Yea i was thinking 600+ myself. Thats great my last setup in sig was making some where around 450+ and i figured around 700 on a 200 shot. It was a pretty solid setup. So im pretty sure i know what this one will do with the boost turned up

Im happy with the way this turbo setup come together. Was a long process. Should have done this along time ago!

Thanks. Ive put alot of time and $$ in it. My girl actually got hit by someone in it last yr. It clipped the driver front and bent the frame. I swapped another frame under it and built it better than my last setup. Basicly a full restoration with some big power!!

well I got a base tune from allen to at least get this thing moving around and drivable. well took it for a spin and noticed a lil miss in the lower rpm but figured I would at least see where the boost was at and everything. Rolled into the throttle from a stop and boost spiked 15psi instant and blowed the tb intercooler piping off. so I rolled to the side of the road. fixed piping started it back up and noticed a ticking from bottom end.

everything happened so fast I was like WTF! I do know when it spiked 15 psi it was trying to get some were. felt awesome for the a few seconds lol.

further inspection today showed it bent a rod on #1 piston. still trying to pull it out of truck for a lil more info. thank god it didn't come apart. I geuss that goes to show this boost thing is nothing to play around with. IF doesn't seem right don't try to build any boost!!!

I did notice my 2 rear passenger head ground straps were loose as well. What do those control?

Those are the main grounds for the ign and injectors. As well as the ecu.

Typically one would put the smallest spring in the gate and proceed with caution while data logging.
Or head straight to the dyno to dial in timing and afr.

Bummer man

well those grounds were definitely loose. could have been my problem with the miss it had. I have the original spring that come in the jgs 50mm wastegate. what is the psi rating on the original installed one? I figured 8-9psi.

ill just have to take baby steps with this boost thing for sure.

im in the process of tearing it down and installing a set of ls2 floating rods and pistons.

Boosting with live datalogging and tuning capability is reckless IMO. The price of the tuning software will pay itself over and over and it's not hard at all to figure out.

As for the JGS gate, the spring that comes with it is the light spring, it gave about 7 psi on my setup. The heavy spring is giving me 16-17 psi with my eboost zero'd out.

Yea i know. Im planning on buying hptuners next week. The rod bending was bc of a miscommunication between me and allen. I should have never gotten into it with it missing. Off to a better and stronger bottom end.

So 7psi with the original spring? Does my wastegate placement look optimal? It transitions pretty good into a y and dumps into the downpipe.

Yeah, it looks pretty good to me. It's certainly much better than the location on mine, a standard truck kit, with WG off the crossover under the trans. I like how you did the crossover in front of the engine.

Ok that always had me a lil worried. But yea i bet it is better than in the crossover.

I figured i would come out better building my own kit. I could make it how i wanted it. Turned out pretty good. Easy to.work on as well.
