Default Reg cab short bed 5.3 silverado turbo

Not sure if i am in the right area but please redirect me if i am not.
I recently got in a big fight with my family about various things and have decided to sell my 2004 gto 6 speed car and i have a 69 c10 that my dad and i built with an lq4 6.0 that he is going to give me the money i have into and the truck will be his.
I am planning to buy a 5.3 regular cab short box 2 wheel drive truck from down south with 70-80k miles. The truck will be my daily driver for the most part but i would like to accomplish atleast 400 whp. My question is should i go the cam/heads route or a turbo on stock motor with maybe a cam setup? I dont want to sacrifice too much gas mileage or reliability. I would like to keep the motor build under 5k. I realize the 4l60e will not hold up but plan to run it till it blows and either 4l80e swap or rebuild. I would like to run the stock bottom end as well. Any input would be great to point me in the right direction.
