What are you running for tires? I just bought some 17 in street lites( on order) and nitto 555r 275/40/17 . Since I put whipple on, car gets no traction. I need to put a shut off switch on before they will let me back at the track. I also have to stay under 11.49 ( no cage), or 135 mph. Now I have to fig cage out this winter

My street tires are nitto 555 255-50-17s. I went with the taller tire because I've always heard a taller tire has more contact patch than a wider tire. Not that they actually get traction. Lol. When, I really want to play on the street, the 275 m/t drag radials come out.

What are you running for back spacing? I ended up getting 5 in and ordered 1/4 spacers if it's too close to frame

No. It has not been restalled yet. I'm thinking about locking the converter at the track to see if the slip goes away. This is just to verify its the converter and not the trans slipping before I send the converter back.

I think mine is a 2c. Is this tighter or looser than a 2 b?

The 2c is a 245mm and the 2B is a 258mm. Same stall speed. How the diameter relates to a loose or tight converter is beyond me.

Can you post more info on your ac setup?

I have a GN with a 6.0 turbo and truck accessories. I notched my cross-member just to run the ac compressor but I dont know where to start.

What year compressor are you using?

Does it have a high and low speed switch? (Is there a plug on the side and on the back). Do you have both of these hooked up? Or are you not using the compressor pressure switches and inline ones?

Anything else required? Does the ac needs a vacuum source to run? Mine was not hooked up when I got the car with the v6 so I am kind of in a bad spot.

Does the car run cool with the radiator, condenser, and intercooler stacked? I was having trouble keeping my car cool with ls1 fans here in the desert with just radiator/intercooler.

Hey Callys, sounds like a sweet GN. I didn't bother posting too much info on the a/c because not many guys in this section run a/c. But anyways, I'll try to answer your questions.

The compressor, I found on Ebay. If I remember right it is a 10se18. It is from a 2011, I believe. Seems to be an odd part number but looks identical to the very common 10s17f. Also, it does not have the high pressure cutout switch on the rear.

I'm using a stock syle low pressure switch on the drier but it is wired to the ecm. The whole a/c system is wired like a 2005 chevy express van, utilizing the 12v ac request. In addition, a pressure transducer from an 05 truck with electric fans was wired in to control my electric fans under a/c operation.

I had the same issues with cooling with only radiator and intercooler and ls1 fans. Configuring the electric fans to come on sooner fixed that problem for me and with a 160 thermostat, the temp stays around 175. Fast forward to the addition of a/c and the condenser, the car wants to heat up slowly over 200. I still have not fixed this issue yet. I'm thinking of going to a better front mount intercooler, like an RJC or deleting the intercooler.

What kind of power are you making with your set up? On the LY6 since it's VVT did you change the lifters or keep them since it's not DOD?

bigmandengo are you keeping the 5.3 the way it is other than lifters? What the weight difference in the aluminum 5.3 vs iron?

Sounds like a nice set up! I have a stage 3 tick turbo cam and just question whether or not i should have changed the lifters while i was at it? I've never good nor bad but just nervous whether or not they'll be ok?

The plan right now is to open up the ring gaps, swap out the dod lifters, ls9 head gaskets and swap in my cam and valvesprings from the current 5.3.

I've always heard the weight difference between the iron and aluminum block is 80 lbs.

The difference in weight between a fully assembled iron LQ9 6.0l and a fully assembled aluminum L33 5.3l is 97lbs.

This past weekend was One Guy's Garage Drag-Weekend. The Buick made the trip once again. This year, 600 plus miles were logged and the car made passes at all three tracks. On sunday, at Tri-state Raceway, I ran a new personal best and busted into the 9s. What a blast.

The Buick is still an all-steel, full weight, A/C, steel wheels and iron block car.
