Default Does turbo mounting location make a difference?

Title basically states it but for more information:
I've seen turbos mounted in front of the engine. I've seen turbos mounted on top of upward facing headers/manifolds. I've seen them behind the engine on long headers.

Is turbo mounting just simply a matter of putting it where it will fit?

And because everyone loves pictures. Here is an engine bay similar to what I will be putting a turbo into:

That is the LQ4 in the 71 FJ55 in my sig.

The new vehicle(72 FJ55) will have the battery and PCM shuffled further back and the mechanical fan will be swapped for electric(99 Intrepid) I'm just debating where to stash a turbo. 5 quarts of crap in a 4 quart bag

Default

fitment of turbo and piping is first and foremost. closer to the motor the better. it's a balancing act of fitment and heat
