Default Why have a 90° bend on front bumper exit exhuast

I'm wondering if there is a purpose for it or just personal preference having a downpipe out the side of the bumper then have a 90° bend I think it looks weird with a bend.

Pretty sure he's talking about something like this. Some people think the gases being directed up help keep the front end down..... I personally think the idea is silly

If you have a head gasket or a motor let go it can help keep fluids off of the tires.

I don't buy it. This is an internal combustion engine not a jet engine. Where is the proof?

Downforce...Did you ever see a top fuel car that drops cylinders on one bank and the car pushes to that side. Big HP cars like outlaw drag radial cars that can power wheelie at 180 mph will use the bull horns to add some frontal downforce. That being said if you have them on a 600 HP car they are unnecessary.

I think it looks dumb but thats what I heard as well. Do I think it does that job well, no, but I also believe it works better that nothing. Sort of if you face the bullhorn forward it *could* possibly slow the car down?

Obviously. I still don't buy it. The amount of force it would take to keep the front end on the ground is a hell of a lot more than a 2500hp can create through a 4-5" DP... Just my .02 though

The downward thrust thing is reduculous. But, it is helpful for not tripping beams, and lost head gaskets.

As for the bunk downward thrust theroy It should be simple to measure. Strap a strain gauge or scale to whatever your mounting the pipe with and make a pass.

This has already been done several times. Put the car on scales, put it on the 2 step on the transbrake. Shows a quantifiable amount of downforce. There have been radial cars with wheelie problems fixed by this mod.

Was talking to a few pro mod guys and it's even gotten to that the angle of the bullhorn changes as its going down the track. The EL General car has a little motor that moves the angle of it. Pretty wild ****.but when you're talking 3000HP there is a lot of stuff out there

Plenty of lower Hp cars (1000ish) have had issues to a fender exit pushing the car to one side or the other... One change is made, the exhaust, and it fixes the pushing.

Call BS all you want... Real world results say you're 100% wrong.

Calm down.. I can admit when/where I'm wrong. I asked for some proof and it was presented. Learn something new everyday. It just seems highly unlikely at first glance.
