or just run a separate switch, the fans you can put them through a temp switch, but i suppose they will be running most of the time. you would like to see as cold as possible IATs.

put a whipple, KB or maggie on my truck, is still on my wishlist.
But i got my damn radiator/ cross bracing supports above the engine, only short shy of 3"
I think I'm gonna keep them on the same switch. That way , at the track I can cool it down between runs.

Ok so I fig I would update my thread. First issue I had was the holley ps/ alt bracket kept cracking . It actually ripped idler right off. After 2 holley brackets, I finally fig out I could use the gm vette bracket with the holley spacer. Works mint its a lot beefier. The only thing that sucked was buying a corvette alt. Then the Chinese sanden I bought off e bay blew up. So I bought a new sanden sd7 from summit . ( prob what I should've done in the first place). Car is really fast. No traction whatsoever lol. I tried to go to the track, but they won't let me run with out a batt switch since I relocated battery to the trunk. So I have to get switch . I also ordered some 17 in street lites w/ nitto 555r. For the back 275/40/17 . So hopefully I will get to run soon. Car currently is@ 10 lbs boost. I'm thinking of running a smaller pulley for maybe 12lbs. Mast sent me the tune , it runs mint but slightly rich. Maybe 12.5 cruising and 10.8-11.0 wot. Damon said he would help me lean it out a little , but I kind of want to run it like it is for a while , then turn it up when I'm sick of it. I'm really happy how it turned out .now I'm going to concentrate on the suspension/ brakes.

Thanks for the update. How many miles do you have on it so far and do you use it as a daily driver. If you don't use it as a daily could you or what would it take to make it one? What are the maintenance issues with the Whipple ie belts etc. Thanks.

I prob have 2k miles on it since the whipple . 7 k since I built car . You could definitely drive this car everyday. Really no maintenance. Maybe a belt once in a while. The whipple has a bypass valve that is open until 0 vaccum, so your not into boost until you get on it hard .So you can cruise around town , then melt the tires when ever you want.

How did I miss this? This answers a lot of questions I had regarding belt/accessories placement and the ability to use VVT and a top-mount blower. Thank you for pioneering this and documenting it.

Yes, it took a little trial and error, but it worked out fine. I was new to the ls world when I built this car and decided to retain the vvt. If I had known I was going to go FI I prob would have went with a pd blower cam. But One of the best decisions I made was going with mast for the electronics. They sent me both tunes and the car runs mint.

Well finally took it to the track . Weighed in at 4050 race weight . Did 11.5@127 . I was afraid of going 11.49 or under and getting thrown out, so when it spun out of the hole, I let off for a sec then nailed it . Not bad for 9 lbs and a base tune. Need to shed some weight, that 80 lb hood didn't do me any favors. I'm thinking of getting a hurst olds scoop and putting the aluminum one back on. How accurate is hp from weight/ trap speed calc? According to calc puts me at 647 rwhp

It is pretty awesome that you are as fast as the track will allow you to go.

And I still really love how well you combined the VVT and top mount blower. That is something I have wanted to do for a while now, and I constantly talk myself out of it in favor of more financially feasible options... but you had to update this post and get me thinking about this again...

Super cool build, sir. Glad to see it doing well at the track. That Cutlass is a freaking tank @ 4000#, so I wouldn't doubt it's over 600rwhp to get you under 12s.

Great results!! I would love to have a Whipple. Does it have much whine? I hate how the newer blowers seem to get quieter and quieter. Old MP112 was super loud and the new TVS seem pretty quiet.

Nice install. I want to put that same LS Hot Rod set up on my truck. Do you have an IAT sensor ? If so, where is it located and where do the wires for it come from. Same for the MAP, how do you wire it in? Did you have to get an extension for the drive by wire throttle, because if i flip mine upside down the cable won't reach to plug in on the other side.

The AIT and map sensor are both in the back of blower case. Yes I needed an extension for DBW throttle body

Hate to bother you but, how did you wire up the MAP and IAT sensors ? Did you buy a harness that patched them in. If so, where did you get it ?

Well my build is a little different from yours, I have a mast Motorsport ecm/harness. The wires were long enough for the IAT sensor, and I bought a map extension harness from mast. What year is your truck? Whipple sells a truck kit, so I'm sure you can buy any extension harnesses from them. You can also google the directions for the truck kit to find out what wires go where. I think your IAT might be in the MAF depending on year.If so, you can remove the 2 wires for the IAT and wire to sensor. When it comes to the coolant pump, a Bosch pump for a ford lightning/gt500 is like a$100. Speedway.com is a great place for the heat exchanger. Look in the garage sale section. Let me know if you need any more info.

Build looks great, think you will have a 10 sec ride with meth and tuning once you add a bit of boost for sure !! What trans & converter stall you using and reared gearing? Enjoy that beast!

Thanks !cars got a gmpp 4l85e Super matic, circle d 2c. I think it's a 3200 stall. Strange S60 with 3.73 S trac .The converter was spec'd for the car when it was N/A. Recently installed snow meth kit . Running 50/50 meth/water.also put a smaller pulley (3.50) . Hits 14lbs up top now. I've messed with tune as much as I feel comfortable with. Car is going to dyno aug 11th. I think it's got 10s in it now. The 11.0 was a mistake, took off slow, ( no traction )I just wanted to see what I would trap. Don't really want to put a cage in, so I've been trying to stay over the 11.5 or 135 mph rule.
