Default Build it or crate engine form builder?

Im want to build a LS3 supercharged engine, Im looking for 800hp at the flywheel. Should I buy a crate turn engine or build one up, whats the cost difference. Pro's and Cons.

Thanks

I prefer buying short blocks done and picking the top end for the application.

Pros: Block is done, balanced, assembled etc. typically with a warranty (shout out to Thompson).
No time investment building it etc.

Con: Built block costs more
Shipping and assembly can take a while if they're backed up

Conclusion: If you got the money and don't want to spend the time on the short block, order one to taste and be done with it. If you have plenty of time and the knowhow, then build it.

Personally, I make more money hourly than I can save by building it myself so I have the pros do their thing and write the check.

Take a look at my ERL shortblock and longblock prices. Let me know if you have any questions. Bob

Nice Bob. I ran an ERL in my Vette at 1k+ rwhp easy. They're good motors. I currently run a Thompson so I gave them a shout out.

You're welcome. Not turn key but something like this long block is a great start to having a complete engine. http://shop.brutespeed.com/ERL-N1L-4...71-ERL-N1L.htm Thanks. Bob
