Default New build. Turbo recommendation help

hi guys, i'm going with a new direction for my build on my 99 trans am. I am going with a dart shp block and would like to run twin turbos. Goal is at least 1,200 rwhp. I'm not doing all the work on this and i was told if i ran anything over a 66/67 i would need to run exhaust out my front bumper or fenders and i really don't want to do that. Is there truth to this? Also is precision turbos the way to go?

And why are they claiming you would need to do that ?

There are many turbo brands...depends on your sizing requirements and of course budget.

Sounds like they are talking about snaking anything over 3” downpipes as not possible? Depends how much of the front end you are willing to cut up and tube. That’s big power/money, so I’d assume you’d tube the front of the car to get a proper funny car cage in anyway. Plenty of room if you do that for dual 4” downpipes and exhaust.

thanks for reply guys. from my understanding of the convo we had about it, i was told any turbo 76/75 and up would need a 4" downpipe and won't fit unless we run the exhaust out my front bumper or fenders. I was trying to stay 6k or under on the turbos themselves.

You get anywhere NEAR 6k for two 7675s, and they had better have a titanium race cover....with a Diamond encrusted compressor and turbine.

Get a pair of Borg S369 SX-E's and unleash hell on that block. Both of them would cost almost what one PT7675 goes for and the S369's will easily reach your power goal.

Borg has an open T4 .88 housing for like $150. Guys have made 1500+hp 170+MPH through them. The 73/80 turbine has supported 427ci with low backpressure so should be plenty for your needs.
