What cam with D1SC
Hello,
I will be installing a D1SC eventually but would like to install a cam to get a more aggressive idle and to opptimize its results. I have searched both this forum and the internal section with no results. My goal is 500RWHP, daily driven attitude. the car is an M6. Need to pass emissions. Would the TR224 on a 114LSA be a decent choice? Anyone have any sound clips at idle?
Thanks in advance.

stay w/ the stock cam...7psi of boost and a good tune should do the trick.
there really is no reason to go through the expense to change the cam for that power goal and a d1sc. unless you really care about the sound of the car at idle...ha it will be harder to pass emissions w/ a lumby cam then one w/ an LSA like the stock one...i wouldn't bother to do it.

yeah, you have to go on the sniffer don't you? if you were across the line in MD all you'd have to do is go with the OBD II Scan and make sure you HPTuners, AutoTap, or LS1Edit all the funrobbing stuff OFF. No one would ever know.

Really no need for the cam huh? I was just thinking of doing that while I finished pulling together the funds for the D1SC. I might reconsider on the cam then, but if I do end up installing one how is TR224 for my application?I'm not really sure what the emissions proceedure is in Delaware with OBDII cars. I know older ones definitly have to do the sniffer. I heard that they just plug into the diag. port and check for codes but I have know idea whether or not this is true, I have never put this car through emissions yet. BoostedWS7, what are you running, D1SC? How do you like it? Do you run on the street or mostly track? If you were to do it again, would you change anything? Are you running a 6rib or 8rib any belt slippage? How is the low end torque with the blower, I would imagine pretty sick? Sorry for all the questions, I just don't want to do anything twice or end up regreting my choices.
Thanks again everyone,
Thanks again everyone,

Picking cams sounds easy... but there are different things you need to look at when picking a cam (IE head flow numbers).

dws6,
i have a d1sc, 8-rib SDCE setup, no slippage issues. stock cam, i am happy w/ the power. the car sees mostly street. if i were to do it again, i would have gone turbo, but at the time i guess i didnt know enough about them, and there wasnt much availible yet or anything that struck my eye and was proven like the procharger setup. my car has been procharged in one form or another for 3 years now. it has always been reliable.

I thought of going turbo as well, seems to be much more adjustable. But since than I already invested 1300 in headers and I will not punch a hole in the oil pan. So I'm back to ATI. BoostedWS7, what kind of #'s are you putting to the wheels, curious what the car would do with a good tune. Also did you get a custom tune or with a tuner in the kit? Where did you get the tune and what was the cost? Could you recommend someone?
GrannySShifting and slowness , thanks for the input. Although I have no idea what the factory heads flow above .550, just that the TR224 seems to be highly recommended for street driving.

BoostedWs7,
Do you get involved with the Philly street racing scene? I've been there several times, that **** is crazy! Alot of tuners though. Seriously, I do appriciate your input, I haven't seen or talked to anyone who has one of these kits and I can't wait to order it.

to tell you the truth i dont know how much power the car is making now. i only street tuned it w/ ls1edit and v5 a couple months ago with a smaller pulley and never got back to the dyno. now im making 11psi,and i kept the tune safe. my guess is it is somewhere around 525 - 550 rw. maybe more, i dont know. ive got some things for it, and i'll dyno tune it right soon...

BoostedWs7,
Thanks man, That's funny cause I've always liked black (looks mean as ****) just a bitch to keep clean and prestine over the long haul. Where do you go for dyno tuning? I'm only about 45min south of philly. I'm a little leary about custom tuning (see "tuner question") in the tuning forum. I'm afraid of not tuning it properly and doing damage. Can't decide on ordering a tuner with the kit (diablo) or buying HPtuner or the like...
