HELP! About to buy a used P-1SC How to visually inspect it?
I'm going this saturday to potentially buy a P-1SC from OKC (about a 2 hour drive from me). The seller never installed it on her car, and said it has maybe 36K miles from the previous owner. That mileage seems kindof high. Is there anything to worry about with that many miles on the blower? How can I visually inspect it to make sure it is in good condition? When I spin the impeller, should it make/ not make a certain noise? etc. Any input would be greatly appreciated before I spend a good chunk of change on it.

I bought a used one a while back, need to look at the inlet blades for any major nicks or if there are wear marks along at the tips to case. There will be some slight play with in the gears if you hold he impeller and try and turn the drive this is normal. As for end play of the drive I would make sure there is not a lot. Pull the dip stick and see what the oil looks like if it is still there, and maybe the level if you can hold the unit in some what of the correct position with the dip stick screw at 12;00 position. Other wise there is not much else I can think of. When I bought my used head unit I sent it back to ATI for a inspection and resealing, just for good measures. I think it cost about 250-300 for a inspection and resealing. Money well spent in my eyes. You can take the serial # and call ATI and they can pull up the history on the unit as well to see if it has been in for any work and who has owned.
