Questions about Meth kits on a stock bottom end
Hi guys-I don't know too much about these Meth kits but from what I understand they can go a long way at keeping the stock shortblock alive. Now my car is a 02 z06 with a A&A P1SC kit. I'm just in the middle of installing it as i write this. I have modded the car somewhat to make it boost friendly-I have installed a Futral F7 camshaft, and i have installed some 317 heads with a 69.5CC chamber to give me a compresion ratio of 9.85-other mods are headers, 60lb in, LPE pump and cat back. Now i have to pullies in my hand a 4.25 and a 4.10. The 4.25 apparantly will make around 7lbs of boost and the 4.10 will make around 9.5 lbs of boost at redline(6600). I was thinking of putting on the 4.10 pulley and just running just shift the car around 6000 and drop the rev limiter to 6400 instead of 6600 to limit boost. Now will the meth kit be of any benefit to me? I'm not looking to build anymore horsepower but i am looking to keep my car safe and far away from detonation. If you guys think this is a good way to go then i want the best kit and something with a warning lite to let me know if i'm low on Meth. What do you suggest-thanks!

I would personaly go with the 4.10 pulley till you have afew more mods. I think you will be fine with your shift points where they are at. A meth kit will cool down the intake track and its will spike up your octane of your gas. It will add more reliablity to you engine and help keep it out of your sig. I personaly like using the stock washer fluid tank. You can drill a hole and put a ftting in the bottom or you can just feed a hose in thru the fill tube. I like using the factory tank because it already has a idot light. Finding a spot in your car for a nother tank will be tricky. Eveything is just realy tight.

I went from 8lbs to 12lbs just adding meth and made 475hp and 606tq at the wheels on the stock motor. I would say it is worth it. My 36lb injectors were maxed out at 8lbs. Without the meth, I would have never been able to run 12lbs on those injectors.

I would get the ECS meth kit if you want the stock bottom to stay together for a while. It really nice, warning lights, etc.., made just for vettes and its on my next to buy list for my car...

I agree with Chris on the ECS Meth Kit. I installed it on mine for added protection no the extra hp it provides and I have a forged bottom and want it to last. My goals were modest on the build and we exceeded them. Initially with my forged bottom I was going to set the rev limiter to 7000. The first dyno run we shut down at 5800 and was just short of 700 rwhp so I made the decision then to only run to 6200 when we finished the tuning it made some great numbers and if I change my mind and want to open up more I have more hp already untapped. But for a street car it is sick and spinning tires is the biggest issue until somewhere in 4th now, but I love it. Go meth and you will be able to run the 4.10 safely with a good tune

Alright, so I just ordered the ECS/Alky Control kit. Where do I start-I'll be running 100% Methanol. Combo is as follows-A&A P1SC kit 4.10( 9-10lbs at 6500) pulley, 317 heads 69.5CC(9.85compression), F7 cam (224/230 114+4), SW headers, Factory cats and Brola X-pipe. Just want to keep it safe. Thanks!

Arun, the kit is pre set to come on at 3-5lbs boost (you can adjust this to what ever you want) and will ramp up from there, just keep turing it up until there is no more knock with your data loger..
there is allot of info over on the GN forum, and there should be good info on the corvette forum. julio don is the guys name (razor) on the GN forum......
