Default Damage Report!!

got the heads off and guess what, good ole #7 has a piece missing out of the top of it. didnt really hurt the heads/valves much they are just scatched up some. also there is a scar on the cylinder wall big enough it catches your thumb nail in it when you go across it. pulled the turbo apart.. i was a litte scared on this one when thinking a piece of piston went through it.... all fins are intact, a little scratched up though. it feels a little rough but not too bad. think it will hurt anything? would filing it down any hurt or should i get it reuilt or can i just buy new fins or something. pics will be up shortly

Well, the upside is you'll be able to have more fun on a built motor

Sucks about #7 though, when is the motor swap happening?

I dont see why you couldnt do some light filing and sanding on those fins to get by for a while. I dont know much about turbos but doesnt look hurt THAT bad to me.

I would save up and have the turbo rebuilt. I wouldn't run that turbo, IMO.

The compressor side should be ok. The exhaust housing is probably a little beat up...but the good news is that a new housing isnt that exspensive.

Precision...Turbonetics. What AR is the one you have now? I have an .85 that is brand new..but its a three bolt flange...Im sure yours is probably a four bolt.

The compressor side of the turbo should be ok. There was no material to make its way into the intake side of the system. The exhaust housing may be ok, hard to tell with out pics. If you give me your current housing size...I may be able to find you one by Mon afternoon.

I wouldnt reuse that turbo either. I think you should seriously consider replacing the exhaust side.
Compare the cost of a repair to a new turbo. Talk to Jose, a MPT70 isn't expensive and will support your goals easily. It'll spool faster as well and probably give you more area under the curve
