Hmm..db figures would be interested to get, but its really hard to say.
Under normal driving, you hear a lite turbo whine (sounds really nice) and under boost you can hear it quite well.
As for exhaust, if you have cats on the car, it really quiets down the exhaust and turbo whine and is very quiet overall.
If you are wondering whether or not it is too loud, the answer is definitely not, either way (cats or not).
We actually did a custom dual pipe setup on one of our Trans Ams that involved quite a bit of extra exhaust piping coming out of the turbo, and with that particular setup, you could barely hear the turbo whine at all. So if you want the loud turbo whine, you can go with a single short pipe. If you don't want it, you can go with something bigger. Some guys have even put bullets in the exhaust pipe, but that is not for me

I have STS with a customized Borla with a Dynomax bullet after that. I'm planning on adding another bullet that runs to the driver side outlet and connects the wastgate. With cats its not loud but i wouldnt run it with cats either. With my current setup its at the same sound level as the small flowmaster POS muffler my car had before. Mufflers after the turbo have a greater affect then on a NA car.

It's loud with no cats and no mufflers after the turbo.
I built a custom dual exit, dual muffler setup for mine and it's now as loud as your average cat back system at worst, alot quieter in alot of situations. Still plenty of turbo whistle when you get on it as well.

i dont see how you guys could be putting mufflers in these i LOVE the sound....all of it...there is not one point where i think "man that is annoying"
sure it louder than stock but not by much at idle......and WOT i want my car to sound loud...as long as its a good loud....and i think the jet engine sound is great

I have long tubes with 3" piping back to the turbo with no cats and it is loud. I like the sound at idle, cruising around town and WOT, but long cruises on the highway are not really pleasurable sound-wise. It drones like crazy. Of course my 4.11s don't help that either.
I will probably be going back to stock manifolds for heat retention later. This will make it easier when I have to put the cats back on every year after next year for emissions anyway. I'll do some testing to see the power and spool time differences and post the results...

My buddy has one. He started w/o a muffler, it was somewhat raspy alomst obnoxious. We added a bullet after the turbo and it sounds tons better. Not so much exhaust rasp anymore, makes the turbo noise more noticeable. Sounds good.
