Any reason why my car won't make more than 9psi?
Well the new turbo is on and the car feels great.
But ****, for the life of me I can't figure out why the car is only making 9psi.
Its not even opening the WG, the spring I have in there is rated for 11psi WTF?? I moved the WG boost source from the intake to the compressor housing....same????
Turned the BC up and up and up and up....9psi.
Tightened all my T bolts down, check all silicone connectors...fine.
Check and replaced a few suspect vac lines....same 9psi.
Checked for exhaust leaks at the turbo, manifold to crossover connections and the manifold to heads....ALL GREAT no leaks, no soot and all bolts are tight.
I don't get it, it won't make anymore than 9 psi WOT
I have a turbosmart dual stage MBC, would that possibly go bad and not let the turbo make any boost?
I'm at a loss here.

I got nothing for ya.thats wierd. If anything mine has a over boosting prolem if I mess with anything.I usually just back the MBC all the way back and it runs at exactly what psi spring I have in my wastegate

nah, its not making it past 9psi..both on my logger and my boost gauge. If it was 11psi or more my WG would pop open...nada..nothing...no PPPSSSSSSSSS from the WG
Super Z, tried it, backed it all the way down, and all the way up, no change.
Confused I am.
If I can't find the reason for this, i'll pull the nose off the car tomorrow to check all my IC pipe connections real well. A coupler might be torn in a place I can't see from the bottom of the car.

When this happened to me I 1st remove the controller...and when that didnt work I used extra waste gate flanges to make block off plates so the waste gate "couldnt" bleed any exhaust...I did that just to be sure the gate wasn't opening and I didnt know it.... Then I shimmed the spring and found the spring I was told was .9 bar psi was really 5.5 psi. Changed the spring and was good..... I found it was the spring cause when I blocked off the gate, I made like 20+lbs fast!
I also had several small cold side leaks....that may have added up. My biggest leak was a ripped hose...and I had a heck of a leak through my throttle body shaft. Some PVC end caps and a air nozzle in one end, in conjunction with a compressor can yeild the leaks easily. I have found a hole in an IC this way.

Yes sir, just walked in from my testing sessions.(the drive too and from work LOL)
The boost controller is bad. With the WG hooked directly to the turbo the car now sees its rated spring pressure and the WG is now opening.
With the BC hooked up the WG won't open at all since its bleeding off all the boost
Well guess its time to order a simple $70 MBC, damn car cost me more and more money at every turn

The big leak was coming from the BC itself from what I can tell. I changed nothing else, just cut the vac line from the boost tee from the BC, tied that out of the way and ran the vac line from the compressor housing to the WG....thats it, nothing else was messed as I try to eliminate things one at a time.
WG opens now. I dump my WG to atmosphere and you can hear when she cracks open and when its not.
Carl, it was a turbosmart dual stage BC, around the ***** there is a bunch of sticky residue...don't know where the hell that came from
Formula, it is a headache and heartbreak because the car use to run so strong and now its a fight just to get it to run.
Ricky, She feels good now, boosts fast and holds steady. Debating whether to get another WG spring rated for 17-18psi and run that way or chance another BC.
Don't know if it was due to the BC, but my boost would always fluctuate after it peaked, it would go up and down 1-2 psi at WOT. Indicating that I had a leak, but could never find it. I tighten my clamps religously, but always had a problem with the WG v band clamp staying tight. This time around it was tight and no leaks from the clamp.

Stick residue? Sounds kinky. J/K
Glad you figured out what it was.
