sts + lowered = good/bad idea??
Well here is the thing, my car is lowered and I absolutley LOVE the look and would hate more than anything to give it up.
Does anyone have a rearmount setup who is lowered? If so how did you tuck the turbo and what size turbo is it? Also, any problems with scraping?
Thanks

Everyone I know who has tried the lowered car/STS turbo combination has gone back to raising their car. The plumbing sits too low, no way around it unless you bring it up through the interior of the car... Bob

Out of the box kit though, you will destroy the pipes in no time.

I modified the pipe that goes under the K member since it goes to my FMIC
Also redid back where it goes under the LCA.
Those are the 2 lowest points and what need to be addressed.
My car is lowered on a Pro Kit.

the turbo is way up there if you mount it right, no worries there.
here is an old pic of when I was mocking things up. hoses and clamps are different but the piping is the same. you can see the lowest point is going to be there right under the K, if you immediately have it start coming up like I do your fine. if it extends out like the stock kit does, then scrape o rama.
bunch of pics here that give you an idea about how high the turbo can sit.

you will see my custom exhaust hangs a bit lower (left it that way to hide the turbo even though I originally wanted it to tuck higher) than the turbo and neither have ever hit. you would really have to try hard to wack the turbo.

It's a modified Y pipe, so yes it's oval.
When I installed my kit I didn't like the dinky over the axle solution they provide, thinking it was a restriction (well many have proven that theory wrong) so I did my own piping from the turbo to the pipe that runs the length of the car using an old Y pipe to take advantage of the ground clearance oval piping provides.

Blackbird i never knew that was your car. Ive said it before, nice setup. Im gonna redo my charge piping in a similar fashion. I tried over the a-arm, no good. Through fender...still didnt work. Ill just try and tighten it up like you and maybe once again consider pro springs. I went 2.25" over the axle though. Did you see any diff with the oval piping?
