Ok seriously how big to go for engine size?
I have pretty much decided to go iron block but not sure how big to go. Planning on APS twins now.So really is a 427 going to be worth it over a 370? How much faster spool ,how much more torque. How much better off boost response?
Going with patriot stage 3 lq9 heads, have lingenfelter gt7 cam and fast 90 / NW90.
Planning on staying with my six speed for now and likey something like 9 inch ford with 3.50 or so gears. It is worth the extra grand and half or so to
go up to a 427?
Is it worth going to say lunati or calllies crank over eagle cranks?Any eagle crank failure and at what hp level.I doubt would ever go much past 1000engine hp .Car is pretty much street car. Heck much past 500 rwhp is pretty hard to hook up even on my nittos I would think.I do like good off boost power though thats why thinking going to 427.And would think it would help spool the turbos up quicker.
Are the compstar rods good enough for this or should I spend extra for lunati pro mod rods think its only a 100 and half or so?

Yeah no doubt the cool factor of the number 427 is magical and of course they use it to the hilt in the new z06. And would think the 427 would be a torque monster off boost .Plus you do lose compression with the turbo thing so nice to gain some torque back I would think. Wonder what is about right for compression..9 to 1..9.5 to 1 ,8.5 to 1..I run like 8.8 in my turbo talon and that seems ok.

like smokinHawk said,the turbos are your limiting factor. from what i have heard 370 is a nice engine size for the APS stuff. although they have proved to be good upto 402.
if you still want more low end torque then might be worth taking a look at a small shot of N2O low down to help spool the turbos/provide some cooling. or you could go for an anti-lag system

My fast intake is set up for direct port so was mabye going to put system on even if it was mostly for show still of course small shots help spool up .A 370 or 402 should still be plenty torquey I would think even with lower compression . So again what do most guys set up for compression .8.5 seems low would think 9 to 9.5 would be bit better.

I know that they keep saying that It will work but till I see it I just dont think that I would want to use the APS kit on a engine larger than the 370
I have a 403 and I think that it would be to large for this kit

Peter, i hear the Z06 turbos will be bigger, to tkae advantage of the 427. is there anyway of retro fitting these bigger units to other APS kits??? just thinging if you could enginer this it could be a nice little profit maker for you guys, and let the guy with the smaller APS turbo upgrade to make more power!

It being a street car I would say the 370 for a few good reasons. #1 cost, a good 6.0 block along with the stock crank and a good set of aftermarket rods and pistons. To get that magic 427 cid your going to invest some serious coins in doing so. That's money that can be used elsewhere. As smokingHawk mentioned the turbos will make your power. #2 Traction, more cubes and as you already know traction will be a huge issue. Now if this would be an all out drag car by all means all the cubic inches your budget will allow along the right turbos and a good engine management system.

Compressor map is only half the equation. The turbine side is the problem not the compressor side. You will need a pretty fast turbine velocity to compress the air to 16psi on a 402. That will mean your exhaust pressure will rise fairly quickly.
