Default Turbo heat shield

Anyone ever use a heat shield like these?
How effective are they compared to blankets? These are only $80 so i thought they might be worth checking into. Seems like a good setup for rear mount in the rain too.

I have a heat shield like that it came with my Hi-Flo kit. Works great looks much better than a blanket IMO.

As far as heat are they remotely close to a blanket? I have a rear mount so its not too big of a deal to have a hot turbo but I'd still like to use it as a shield.

BATTA pm me and ill send you a link. Its a non sponsor

Why can't you use both? would they work together or would it not be a signifigant change? I currently have a heat blanket but I can still feel a good amount of heat as soon as I open the hood. I think it cooked my power steering pump already.

Your heat is probibly coming from all the other places that are not covered by a blanket. Metal heat shield would not be needed over a blanket.

You need one like the one in the link below. The metal ones do nothing for getting rid of heat. Also the new blankets now are 40 degF cooler.

The only heat issue im concerned with is it transfering to the compressor housing. Would a blanket make a big difference in cooling the boosted air since it blankets the exhaust housing from the compressor?

The thing i liked about the shield is...well the fact that I can use it as a shield. But it looks so simple that I think ill just build one and buy a blanket.

would also like to know that.. In the back the air pulls the heat off the turbo but it still runs over to the compressor side. Probably nothing going to help that.
