Total Seal AP Steel Ring Gap

Total Seal AP Steel Ring Gap
Maybe I misunderstood the guy at Total Seal, or maybe he was on drugs but he told me .0024 for the top ring and .0016 for the bottom, my second ring is bigger then .0016 to begin with. From what I am reading it seems like .0024 and .0026/.0028 would be more common. They are a set of Total Seal AP Steel rings in a 3.905 bore. Any clue?[/

For turbo application, .020'' top and .026" 2nd would make you safe. Years ago the top ring was the theoretically the right way. But now they decide the smaller gap on the top ring is good for letting gasses escape between the ring land. I believe factory LS spec is .014 top and .0182nd, being max allowable gap.

so those gaps are working well for you? everything I have seen has said to gap the 2nd ring larger than the top to let pressure to be released so the top ring isnt lifted. That of course is contrary to what total seal recommends.
anyone else?

speed pro did some testing a few years ago and found more power by opening the gaping on the second ring. Your top ring should be gapped less then the second. The amount of boost you run will determine the correct gap for your app.
