Default STS without downpipe ok?

Wanting to cut off the Bullet muffler for a few days to see how I like it, will the exhaust be ok coming straight out of the turbo pointing to the side under the car without a downpipe welded?

Yeah this is to test the water to see what I like more, I was worried about anyting getting in there without any bends or a turn down, I can't afford a rebuld. :S

no removeing the downpipe is not going to affect you in anyway like that, all its going todo is freeup a few hp and make sure everyone around you knows your car packs a punch

Thank you sir.

Any precautions I should take in making sure no debris from cutting goes back to the turbo?

I would just be worried about the heat blowing towards the rear tire/rim(depending on the position and set up) and the possible sand or debris getting into the turbo while driving or overnight if you park outside.(If the wind picks up or rains, etc.)

But it does sound good with it off!!!

Dont cut the pipe with it on the car. Remove the v-band and take the pipe off. Ive done it multiple times with the car on the ground. I would never cut anything inline with the turbo because its too easy for metal debris to get into the turbo.

Keep in mind, depending on your current, opening up your downpipe can result in changes in boost/hp and thus could run different what your normal tune is set for.

I've ran mine without any piping after the turbo for about 2 yrs loud....loud as hell where they hear you coming on the next block.....recently went to the muffler shop to have a bullet muffler attached to it....it quieted the sound down alot and seemed to spool later..... I took it off again a week later =)

Just took it off, doesn't seam to make the engine noise much louder, but crap can you hear that thing spool now!!f
Didn't seem to affect the tune. I cut it right after the bend I had on there and simply angled it slightly down so it's like a down pipe. I like it much more myself.

I'll try to get some vid.

if you can adjust your camera's levels (aka how sensitive the mic is) or just get an external mic. A shotgun is good but can be too sensitive sometimes. I see a lot of videos that have nothing but peaked sound and you end up hearing only distortion.
You can also try putting a sock over the mic or a wrapper that will muffle the sound some so that it doesn't distort.

you may have to worry about if you drive in the rain/water and if you drive in heavily gritted areas... as airflow and such or a venturi of some sort forms and accidentally pulls dirt/gravel into the turbine on the exhaust housing... i would at least have a little pipe there

There is, I'll post up a pic of the setup in a few min.

As far as the video goes, all I could get was hardcore distortion.

Its a long gay story..

Someone on this board, didnt like the fact, that someone else was paying for me to be a sponsor on here, because of the amount of sales I do...

This person said I needed to pay for myself... ...

So were trying ot get it worked out and then I'll be back!! No fears!

Plus you can ALWAYS pm me!

I have ran mine without an exhaust for short periods of time while building my exhaust for it.

exhaust note wise, it's fairly quiet, alot of the drone goes away.

but the freekin whistle can literally be heard for a block or two.

just the slightest acceleration and your whistling like the freeking 7 dwarfs. i get all kinds of strange looks on the street, highways, etc... in all situations it's f'n whistle o rama.

it's embarrassingly loud for me, but I'm sure for the "look at me" folks it would be loved.

if you want everyone within a block or two radius to know you have a turbo, run it wide open.
