Default MAC headers w/D1SC

How does everyone like their Mac headers with their ATI kit?
Also did anyone switch from Mac's to LT headers w/3" y-pipe? And if
so how much did you gain in the whole power band? I'm not just interested
in just peak hp & tq. I'm looking for people that switched and made more power thru out the whole powerband.
Thanks

There are not many people running the mac mids they are old school. I do know EPP got almost 700 rwhp and a D1 using short tube headers so you could do the same with the right combo.

You'll make tons of power with the MACs if you already have them I wouldnt get rid of them until they rust out

Thanks everyone for your help. I sold my FLP's when i sold my WS6 so
now i wanna install my GTP 6.0 heads and my D1SC/twins kit very soon. And
i was going to just get a set of SuperMaxx's which replaced the FLP's but they cost a lot even though they are stainless, and i can get a new set of
Mac's with y-pipe both ceramic coated for half the price of SuperMaxx's.
And the money i save on the Mac's i can put into the SD Concepts 8-rib
tensioner system. Like you said, alot of my buddies had Mac's and they went
fast with them. Thanks i think u helped me make my descision.

Wouldn't the primaries be a large restriction? Didn't I read that they were like 1 1/2?

Back in the day I switched from MACs (modded collectors) to FLP long tubes with a P1SC and gained absolutely nothing anywhere. Granted it wasnt huge power and had a stock engine but it was still a 10 second car.

The MACs are pretty decent headers for an FI car really until you start getting into bigger power/RPM.

I am going to switch mine out here soon but I did put down 500rwhp/490rwtq on EPP's dyno with my MAC/Ory stuff. That was with a D1SC at 6.5psi. I am going to a 6.0l and pushing more boost, that is the reason for the change.

Here is the 346 cid Corvette with the shorty headers with a D-1SC at 16 psi, this is also going through the factory cats. It made 740 rwhp. Bob

Thanks, we're getting ready to build a new engine for this Corvette. That little 346 has been driven on a 2.5 mile road course twice a week for two hour sessions for quite some time, and the rings are getting worn. We're building a new engine starting with an LS2 block, then we're going to swap the D-1SC for an F-1A blower. We're going to keep it in the same boost range, the owner even wants to stay with the same Patriot LQ9 stage 2 heads. Basically looking for around the same power level without breaking the bank, as that is what we are doing with the track car we are involved with for him, shown here.

I have Mac headers and like them. I made 632 rwhp on my old setup with a P1SC, so I think you are good to make 550 with a D1 thru Macs

Thanks KP and ChevyChad...Looks like i can't go wrong with the Mac's and off road y-pipe.I'll take a dremel to the primaries to open them up alittle. Plus i can use
the money that i'll save going to the Mac's over the LT's for upgraded parts.
I know i could make more with LT's but i'm not shooting for that most power
i can make. I'm just shooting for something around 530rwhp to 550rwhp
since i'm still running stock bottom end.

Now my next descision...a cam. I like the TR Blower cam, or MTI's Stealth cams,
and even the SC1 from Speed, Inc. looks promising. Want a good cam that will
go with the GTP 6.0 heads. I think the intake runners are 215cfm or 220cfm...
i've had them awhile and i don't remember their size

I like the SC2 cam 224/232 .581/.595 114. Not huge, but should get you in the power range you are looking for.

From using the search button there's lots of guys making great power
with the GT2-3 cam, or the GT7 cam, and the TR Blower cam. I ran
a small cam in my T/A and i loved the torque it made. Just for ease of
tuning i'm looking at either one of the Lingenfelter cams or TR's cam.
The SC2 looks like a ordinary N/A cam. The other choices i listed seem
built more for FI.

I am running the GT2-3 cam and I am happy with it. I have tossed around the idea of putting something bigger in but just can not do it. I love the driveablity I have now with the "smaller" FI cam. I plan on putting this cam in my new 6.0L engine and see how much HP I can make.
