what rearend/tranny combo are you running on turbo cars??
Im posting here because I want input from those with Turbo applications.
on a turbo car(car in sig). I am currently running a stock tranny with a 3.73 rearend. I do a lot of highway driving and Im more interested in roadrace rather then drag, but would like to be able to launch nice and hard too without bogging or spinning so much, so Im thinking a shorter 1st (to compensate for lag) then longer gears the rest of the way.
I was considering ZO6 gear ratios with my current 3.73s or go back to 3.42???? I dont know.
So, what are guys in here running as a combo and what input can you give me as I am in the planning stages of a tranny rebuild/upgrade.
Thanks ~Guy

lower number wise the gear, it will help to load the engine and get the turbo to spool up.
I am picking up my 9 inch this sat hopefully and getting 3.25's in it
As for a trans, i will be going th400 with a transbrake and probably neal chance converter but you mentioned some road racing so maybe a built geforce t56.
Good luck, Chris

i spent all my $$ on the turbo, i'm running a stock 10bolt w.3.42 gears and stock t56 with steel shift forks... future upgrades: beefed up transmission, brakes, a 9in & suspension as soon as i have funds available. i won't be playing to much untill then .... it'll take me a few years as well

Last shop car was a 9" with 3.25 gears and 325/50/15 BFG DRs. TH400 and a SC3000 verter.
New shop car is getting a 4L80E with a 3k stall and staying on the 10 bolt for a while. Staying on street tires too. To many things in the works to build a drag car right now.

Not to put a damper on your ideas, but when I talk to guys that road race a lot they prefer NA setups because the turbo power does not come in in a smooth way with a big setup. What I'm saying is that with NA you have a predictable power curve and thus can work with it, but with a mondo turbo setup the power might come on real big at one point and it might be hard to work with that. Thats said I'm not sure how Evo's and Subies work on the course.
If it were me I'd do a T400 I think you'll go thru a lot of clutches. Sorry for not being very optimistic.
I'd stay 3.42 for now.
