Default question about valve springs

i've heard alot of talk about stock valve springs hanging open under boost i was just wondering what springs ppl were running and at what boost levels. i have a 2000 t/a and am trying to work out the final bugs of an sts install i am currently only running 5psi and was also wondering how high people were running on stock internals

is 10-12psi out of the question with only upgraded valve springs?

I think anytime you push the boost past 5 - 6 PSI you'd want to run some dual valve springs and hardened pushrods. With higher boost levels you'll start to experience valve float.

I am at 7psi. Stock engine. Upgraded to TSP hardened pushrods and LS6 valvesprings (higher seat pressure than the stock LS1 springs and very affordable since I was on a budget). If I were to boost higher a stronger spring would be needed though (and and engine rebuild ).

just do the math. intake valve area minus the stem area times the boost pressure. i would shim the springs to offset the extra pressure, making sure the coils still have adequate clearance.
