Default How many High HP(1000RWHP) are running a Bottom end Girdle???

Just like it says. Is it a need or a want. I can only find that DMperformance.com is the only people making them. And I've seen that EPP has used them in a few of there builds.

Will it make a differnce on a LS2 402 Stroker running close to or over 1000rwhp. There about $550 for the race version.

Thanks Jordan

I personally would dowel some billet mains before I would do a girdle. A step above that would be a lsx block, if it is in your budget.

i agree on the Dowels > girdle. it will save bearing life.

the girdle is kind of a waste imo. i personally am just running stock caps... but if i would have known better at the time, i would have pinned them. not worried about flex at all.

It sounds like cheap insurance. It can't hurt.

jordan!!! Stop over thinking your built and put some boost to it! Most people i know dont even run them on ther near 2000hp builds. You'll lift the heads off you motor LONG before you have main cap issues on a ls2 block.

Doweled caps are the way to go....wheel to wheel made a main girdle that was nothing like the DM one and it took the girdle to a whole nother level. I think the DM one wont serve much purpose or need compared to arp main studs on a doweled steel main cap.

I am using the DM - Girdle/ARP stud kit , in my forged LS6 246 boost motor just for extra insurance.

I was told at the time i bought it that if i was running stock crank and caps, the girdle will save the bottom end, stranghten it and prevent movement and flex.

My Machine shop that is putting my race together as we speak said it cant hurt, but dont see it doing much, as of preventing flex etc, They also said no need to pin the caps, but i am only looking for 700 HP.

And i am using a Callies drangonslayer crank too.

I have them on both of my cars and after doing it I would agree more with this statement haven't had any real issues yet, but I think the pininng keeps the blocks from flexing as much and the mains haven't really been a major issue as far as HP goes. The W2W girdle was an intergrated with the maincaps and tied into the oil pan rails but was pricey due to the process of installation and over kill for anything but all out race motors.

Ok thats what I needed to know. And Bryan its coming along. Both the turbos were out when it dyno'ed 730rwhp. So I'm upgrading to bigger ones with new inlets made, FAST 92mm intake and TB, New PVC system, 100mm MAF, and a few other odd and in things.

At this point you need to get with Kurt Urban and have him to the machine work. He can get your motor to live over 1000hp very easy.

Well the motor is already in the car. Didn't really want to remove it. Can one just add the Billet Main caps and Girdle with the motor in the car??

Can you give out any info on your engine build Phil? Does it have a bedplate from Kurt?

For the extra $400 it is cheap compared to your investment in your 1000 H.P. motor
