Which pump to use for high HP; Fuelab, Magnafuel or Weldon??
Hi there guys,
My turbo Camaro project with LSX block and a 91mm turbo aiming around 1500whp is close to be completed. I am now on fuel delivery and would like to get your opinions regarding fuel pumps.
I know that Weldon and Magnafuel pumps are quite popular on this board magnafuel being more streetfriendly, but when I search, I could not find anything useful about Fuelab pumps. A 42402 seems to provide enough fuel for my setup and apparently, a variable speed control is built into this pump to keep things under control on the street, less volume recyled creating less heat.
Anyone have experience with these pumps and what are your opinions?? Should I just use a Magnafuel 4303 or this Fuelab 42402??
Thanks for the inputs in advance

I dont think you can beat Weldon, I ran a 2345 on the street in my 800 rwhp twin turbo cobra for 2 years and it never gave me a bit of problems. I also ran there pump controller box since the pump is LOUD, my eboost had an output that as soon as it saw boost it kicked the pump on full blast. There customer service is 2nd to none, I was having some fueling issues (my fault) and just to try something out they sent me 3 an fittings for my Weldon regulator for free, if you have ANY questions just email them an usually same day they can even help you plan out your system, cant beat that. WELDON all the way, they are pretty pricey but get a 2345 and never worry about fueling again.
Here was my setup:
Pump
2345-A (-12 inlet and -10 outlet)
Maximum Horsepower
2000 hp @ 14 VDC EFI
2400 hp @ 16.5 VDC EFI
Regulator:
A2040 Series, Bypass Regulator
Bypass Regulator
Size of Return Orifice in Inches: .281"
Fuel Pump Controller:
14000 Fuel Pump Controller
Input: 12-16 Volts
Amps: Up to 28 Amps
Controller allows you to toggle between controlled and full speed
Filters:
WEQ1240CLN Billet Fuel Filter -- 40 Micron Filter with 12 AN O-ring ports before the pump
WEQ1210CLN Billet Fuel Filter -- 10 Micron Filter with 12 AN O-ring ports After the pump
Not a cheap solution though
Pump - $800-$900
Regulator - $200-$300
Filters - about $200
Pump controller - $300-$400
So a total of $1500-$1800 - but you would NEVER have to worry about fuel again
btw here is my street car it was on, 100% stock motor valve covers have NEVER been off, just took off the whipple and tried out some twins

You can not go wrong with any three of these companies That is beyond a doubt. I still really like the MagnaFuel for a true street car quiet reliable and make a ton of power. The FuelAbs are very good too for a street car in fact there biggest pump tested to outflow the 4303. With its variable controller We have been using them in new intank setups with great results. And as said you can not go wrong with Weldon just indestructible race pumps. But just that RACE pumps not built for the street there controller helps but still loud make a ton of heat and expensive.
We use all three for different applications if you have more questions about any feel free to give me a call I can help you spec out you fuel system.
