Default Question on Fuel Pressure

Right now I am building a turbo motor, I was wondering, would there be any great detriment to running my starting rail pressure at around say 60ish PSi an use a boost referenced regulator?? I have a Lonnies Perofrmance Double Pumper and will be runnign 8An lines (stepped up from the sending unit outlet) up to a set of rails run in parallel to a magnafuel regulator to a 6AN return back to the tank. Any info would be helpful, thanks.

Need a little more specifics.

What power level are you trying for?
What size engine?
How much boost?

Personally, 60psi as a base setting sounds a little high to me...unless you're trying to use stock injectors and low boost.

Engine is a 383 Lt1. Power level, well, shooting for the moon on this one, the turbo I'm using is capable of 1400hp, im aiming for like 1000-1100. The injectors are 83 lb/hr units. and boost is in the 16-22psi range. I was talking with my builder and tuner and they were saying I can run 60 if I want but might be better off going with the 83s at more like 50ish and then swapping to larger like 95s or bigger later since I'm using a FAST XFI and can handle using low impedence injectors, but, we can iron all that our later, I jsut wasn't sure if people here had any input or experience.

You need a bigger injector instead of high pressure. Remember you are trying to boost reference 60psi plus 22# boost. Not the way to do it.

Get a big injector & run low pressure (43# base), the pumps will handle way more power this way. You will max out at 65psi fuel pressure boost referenced. An 80# injector rated at 3 bar should be good for your application up to about 900rwhp.

Not sure how your FAST injectors are rated... thay have a habit of rating many of them at 4 bar to confuse everyone.

and thats what me and the builder came up with too. we talked it over more and he said for tuning and durability itll be better to run a bigger injector.

For 1000rwhp applications, I prefer to start with a base of approx 35psi & 96# or larger injectors. My dual pump kits have been to 1100rwhp in this configuration.

Thank you Lonnie, I'll definitely go this route then, would a larger injector give any more leeway without loss of idle and drivability?

On a LT1 application with the XFI, make sure the system is not set up with Batch fire, but sequential injection instead. In batch fire mode on these cars, you will likely have some idle issues with injectors over 80#.

I'm going to be running the EFI connection conversion so I can run in sequential, and coil on plug XIM system.

Then 96 or smaller should give you no problems.
