99+ fuel system in a 98 body
So I have been searching without any true luck. I put the entire fuel system from a 99 car into my 98 body. I kept the 98 dash and I swapped the pinouts etc. as you have to do with the 99+ PCM swaps. However, my fuel guage is still not reading right. I know from what I have read if you do a 99+ PCM swap only, not including the entire fuel system you have to get the PCM tuned to handle the different ohm levels.
My question is do I have to get a custom tune done to swap out the fuel tables for this guage to read properly on a complete 99+ fuel swap with a 98 guage or have I missed a wire on my re-pinning?
Thanks for any headsup or advice.

99 Fuel system swap
I have been considering this swap also.
There was a post , where I questioned if there would be a wiring issue, but I never got a response .
I would like to know how you swap it out . By any chance do you have a write up? I could be wrong, but it may be a pin issue since you swap in the 99 tank.

I am still working on getting this to work.... Sent the PCM out to get tuned by Frost. got it back and all is well except for the fuel gauge still. working with Steve to see if we can figure it out. I am checking my wiring in the meantime while he researches the computer side of things. Worst case scenario I am going to have to either go back to a 98 tank or retrofit 99+ gauges.

No. Its not conclusive that it doesnt work. I had to send the computer back for some more tuning so I just went ahead and went with the traditional 98 tank 98 cluster and 99 PCM. I also got some feedback that indicated the 98 tanks can be easier to work with if you end up with a high power application that needs different types of pumps.
I did figure out how to run a complete 99+ Engine Harness and PCM on the 98 body with the 98 fuel system without the complete repin of the red and blue connectors.

You would need to keep with a 98 fuel tank and sending unit, while repinning some of the wires under the passenger kick panel and pcm and probably get the PCM tuned for the gauge to work. the 99 system will run just fine, but the gauge wont work.

i know this is a little old but i figured i would let yall or other people wondering, know that i have a 98 and i put in the complete 02 plastic tank with everything, harness, lines, evap stuff and all and it plugged straight in and works great with my sending unit and gauge .it was a very easy swap.
