Smile Injectors too big?

Just installed some racetronix injectors in a fast 102. The bottom rubber bushing doesnt actually plug all the way into the intake. The car is now very "bucky" and doesnt respond well. I know that the injectors push alot more than the ones I replaced. Is there a way that fuel wouldnt be "misting" into the intake any more or am I just ignorant?

What size injectors did you have before and what are they now?

I had 28lbs and now i have 42. Upgraded the heads cam and intake. Cam is 228/230 and heads are 215s. I obviously need a new tune but would that be the ultimate answer or is there another reason the engine is acting like that?

You can't just switch injectors and not get a tune

I know. I obviously need a tune.. But my question is with the injectors being in like they are is that what is making the car do what its doing or is it just the tune. I go today to get dyno and tune so if its just the tune then i have nothing to worry about. But if its the injectors then i dont wanna waste my time and money going down there.

What Skinnies said...AND, if the o'rings don't seat in the intake, you will have vac leaks. [And, possible fuel spraying around the engine compartment.]
Sounds like you may have an inj vs the rail mount height issue.

do not run your car with those injectors without tuning it. take them out and put your old ones back in if you are going to drive the car. <-- period

Ok got it to the dyno and started tuning with the fat injectors. Couldnt get anything to turn out right. Kept getting MAF codes and all kinds of stuff. Switched the stock injectors back in and everything was perfect. So it was definatly the new injectors causing the problem. Tuned it out and put out 441Hp on the 3rd run. No torque reading because thier cable was jacked up. When they get it fixed they going to give me a call so i can go down and get a torque reading and maybe get a few more horses squeezed out.

I forgot the exact codes Chuck. I had them writen down but i threw the paper away when i got the tune after we swapped the stock injectors in. It was because i was sucking air through the injector holes in the intake instead of just through the MAF. Before we swapped the stock ones back in we had it running and was troubleshooting the codes and when we shut it off we noticed white "steam" or fuel mist coming from the injector holes surrounding the injector.

get in touch with racetronix. make sure they are the correct style, that you ordered the correct ones. Also, make sure they didn't send you incorrect ones. do yo have an aftermarket fuel rail? is spacing different? take pics of the stock versus these new ones, take a caliper and measure the o rings and measure the injector .... weird.

They are the same length as the stock injectors. Only thing is that the "body" of the racetronix injectors are too big where it meets the intake.

is it a fitment issue with the intake & rail assembly , as if they are the proper type injector for your car, I don't suspect the injectors were made improperly or mis-sized. The O-rings and injector tips should fit correctly. can you post some pictures?

You need the skinny body injectors. The fat ones won't fit.

Yea. FAST makes some specifically for the 102mm intake but i dont have the dough to throw down on a new set until I get these ones sold. Only asking $275 for them. They retail at $328 and only have about 20 miles on them.

I do not have any pics. I just went ahead and put the stock injectors back in and dyno'd like that. These injectors are made for the LS1/LS6 intake. Not the FAST 102. The ones that are for the 102 are longer on the bottom side of the "body"

These are the injetors that I have.

These are the injectors that will fit my intake.

This is the pic of the injectors. stockl C5 injector on the right. Racetronix 42lb injector on the right. You can see how fast the 42lb injectors gets fat. And that fatness hit the intake before the injector rubber seal actually goes into the intake injector hole.
