Default Fuel Injector Clips? Needed with aftermarket rails?

So, I put in some new injectors and don't want to screw around with those little black clips that go on the top of the injectors.

I couldn't really figure out what their purpose is, maybe prevent the injector from coming up in the bore too much?

I have aftermarket holley rails and it doesn't look like the injectors will be able to flex their way out.

Are those little black injector clips needed when you have aftermarket rails?

Who's been running without them and for how long?

Most after market have brackets that bolt to the manifold and rails to hold the injectors and fuel rails in place.
These are the brackets that hold this particular set of fuel rails on the manifold.

I am installing Holley 42 lb injectors on a stock LS1 fuel rail. I was told I don’t need retaining clips... is this true?

Their purpose AFAIK is to keep the injectors from falling out of the rail, in the factory, during assembly.

There's lots of little things like that on cars... like those little screws that hold the rotors onto the hubs or axles... only there to keep the rotor attached to the rest of it before wheels get put on at the very end of the line... no purpose whatsoever after the car leaves the assembly plant. Or those extra connectors lots of harnesses have, that miraculously have a 12V and ground wire, nothing else, but don't seem to have anything to plug into... for testing the completed assembly without having to install it in a completed car and hook it up to a battery.

Anyway, not needed, as long as you don't let the injectors fall out while handling the rails during the time they're not yet installed.
