Fuel pressure question

Fuel pressure question Have a question about fuel pressure. I have a fuel pressure gauge . When I turn the key on... not starting the pressure goes up to 40psi... then slowly drops to 0.... is that normal for it to drop back to zero. Since it's not running

Sounds like guage problem it should hold pressure. 40lbs not enough pressure anyway. Double check borrow a guage. Check regulator if you have external one on rail. Otherwise sounds like need a pump.
