Default Cant put gas in my car

Hi all something is up with something. I dont know wtf is going on. Today i pull into the gas station to fill up and my car will not allow me to put ANY fuel in. I tried atr 2 different stations, and the same result. Could something be impeding the gas flow to fill my tank? Anyone else have this problem? ITs so strange! Please i need some opinions. I made it home, but im on empty! Thanks in advance

1st pull the inner wheel well cover off and look at the fill line and make sure it is not kinked or damaged. I believe ther is a small type of one way check valve at the bottom of the filler neck where it meets the tank. (what year is this) I am refering to a plastic tank. 99and up??? There might be somethng wrong with this???? I have a spare plastic tank let me look, send me a pm if I forget to back to you.

yes 99 trans am. I took the little plastic thing off (2 phillips screws) that surounds the filler neck. Nothing is kinked everything looks good.

How about where the filler neck meets the tank? Dose the fuel go in at all or is it just real slow. Did you pull inner fender cover off? TO see the rubber section of hose? where it clamps to the tank.

Ok i stuck a coat hanger in there, and fuel ******* squirted out everywhere.... very heavy pressure. I let it bleed itself. Can you tell me more about this checkvalve? Maybe the pressure from the fuel fumes had it shut and wouldnt allow fuel in the tank?

The 3 screws at the door are just to hold the shroud, has nothing to do with the fill function.

are you getting service engine light? Sounds like you have a venting problem. Now that you relevied the pressure you will more than likly be able to put fill it up.

I bet it was for tank pressure out of limits or somthing along that line. Have you done anything with you tank in the past.?

It wont go away if there is a hard fault. Do you have a way to read the code?

Need to get the code and go from there, might have a problem with the vent/purge system onthe tank. One other thing you could look at is the connector assy, at the left forward side of the tank just forward of the diff. See if all these are clean and secure. The control fuel pump and vent system.

depends on which scanner you use. Should be section or function to read and clear the code. Reset turnoff the light.

Can even hit AUTO ZONE if you have one near by, they will read codes for you, and maybe do a reset???

Ya sounds like a Venting problem... Too much pressure.. There's a white venting valve on the driver side of the car that attaches to the body of the car. This leads to the tank and is a 1 way venting valve. This might be plugged up.. You can lift up the rear of the car and check it out...

Good luck

Is this the vent?

Its still doing the same thing so it must be clogged. Any opinions on how to unclog it? Thanks
