i need to do a fuel pump upgrade and i was curious how hard is it for you guys to put one in? how much time?

It's pretty straight forword, figure around 2.5 - 3 hours to drop the tank, clean it out, install the new pump and run the wiring harness.

I just did mine, took about 2 hours to get the tank part done, couldnt do the wiring part since Racetronix sent a defective/wrong harness, but should only take 30 minutes to run

how hard is it to drop the tank? does the kit come with instuctions of some sort? i cant seem to find any write ups about the install

Tank wasnt too hard to drop, getting the muffler outta the way was the biggest PITA, I didnt get any intructions and I couldnt find any either .

The Racetronix kits do come with color instructions. I believe the dealer is to include them as they aren't in the packaging.

You can either drop the tank or some guys prefer to just cut the floor board right above the pump. I would not advise this way, but it has been done many times.

Droping the tank requires that you take the exhaust off & drop the axle. The exhaust won't come out until you get the axle down on most cars. Once you get to the tank, its only two straps holding it in. If your able to get the car high enough, you can leave the lower control arms connected to the axle and still get to the pump on top of the tank.

tip: Be sure you've used most of the fuel first

The exhaust is the biggest hassle. The install is straight forward. The plug & play
is worth the $$$.

I did not have to drop the rear end to remove the gas tank. My first time installing the Racetronix pump, and it took 4 hours.

Not a bad install........Just make sure to clean the tank real good. And do not put power to the pump until you have the tank at least a 1/4 of the way full. To make sure the pump has plenty of fuel for the 1st time, cooling and lubrication.

Once the tank was down an out, I just used some simple green and water hose. And then dryed-wipped it out real good with a white cloth. Was able to get a arm inside to do it. I cant say whos......White cloth tells you if any thing is left.

couple q's:
1. why clean the tank? is it required?
2. i dont have a catback, will the tank just drop down then? drop the install time in half?

My last one took about 1 1/2 hrs. I always cut the metal abouve the tank, not all the way on the left side that way I dont cut the lines, then I raise that flap of metal up, disconnect the lines & pull it out. Replace the pump, then the wiring is very easy. Put the flap back down & silcone the edges back together. Thats it. The PnP system is the best IMO. I put down 620hp in my 408ci with this pump & still running in the low 11.'s-1 AFR. (TNT 200 shot) Still had plenty of gas left. Highy recommend. Plus they are cheaper now.
