Default Walbro 255 Pissing me Off !

Ok, I'm doing a simple Direct Fit LS-1 Walbro 255.Drop the tank,install,primes....no start.I can hear the pump run but no start.I install a fuell pressure gauge on the fuel rail,prime.........no pressure.I call Full Throttle and Mike is very helpfull, surmises I probably mixed the power and ground...F'd Up.Says the pump will run in reverse, that's why I'm hearing it but no pressure.Pull the tank again look at the red and black wires, compare to the diagram....looks perfect.Put the pump and bucket in a container with a gallon of fuel, pull the connecter of the top of the bucket put a + and - from a 12 volt battery to the perspective red and black to verify and it pumps fuel like crazy. No fuel lines off, wireing looks right.Put the pump and bucket back in tank, install tank (half way)plug fuel lines, and electric connections.Turn the key hear the pump prime,no fuel pressure ! Prime it 5 time in a row....still no fuel pressure at the rail.Pulled the connection at the filter, let the fuel line hang, prime and crank the engine....hear the pump run but not a drop of fuel.Just dropped the tank for the third time, frustrated and don't know what to do.Contemplated switching the wires even though they look and perform(out of the tank) correctly. What sucks is I installed Kooks Headers,Y with Cats and GMMG CatBack and can't even enjoy it for a week now because the bitch won't run.I'll take any suggestions, tomorrow I plan on switching the wires...........HELP !

Do not let your car run for very long with that little amount of gas in the tank. These pumps will take a sh*t way early as they're cooled by the gas (and therefore, running the tank low causes them to quite often overheat and burn up).

Switched the wires and she's fixed. What sucks is I followed the diagram in the instructions to a T.I had a couple of people look how I had it per the Picture in Full Throttles instructions to verify I had the red and black correct.Took some digital photos too.Well anyway, fired right up and the KOOKS Headers and GMMG exhaust sounds perfect, nice idle and awsome under WOT.Thanks for those who tried to help.

I was thinking maybe the ebay ones have the terminals marked incorrectly...

I live in Hong Kong and do a lot of business in China so I know what they are capable of. They are however very good at copying things. A mate had a contract to supply 2000 hospital beds in the USA, he had a sample sent over for them to copy and asked them to do 10 samples. When he came to inspect the samples none of them worked. Turned out that the sample that was sent over was faulty and they had copied it exactly, including the faults. hahaha

I had great success with that same pump. I put somewhere around 20k miles on it. I bought it with the racetronix kit and loved it. I think I bought mine from thunder racing. Did you happen to buy it from E-Bay or something?

The FT product is not a Racetronix product.
Our pump assembly comes with a new connector installed and pre-tested.
Our instructions were correct from day one given two years of field tests before its release.

This doesn't sound good coming from the horses mouth..........the Full Throttle unit is not from Racetronixs and yet Speed Inc. is selling them as a Racetronix unit! What gives?!I too purchased mine from Speed and had this issue with the wires.Who's product is it anyways? Traver

There's a few possibilities here:

1. There's a batch of genuine ones in the market with the terminals around the wrong way

2. The instructions are printed wrong

3. These are not genuine ones.

I would have thought that the terminals have a + and a - stamped on them so Im having trouble understanding how the instructions could be wrong in saying hook + to + and - to -.....

If the "fix" was to hook it up the wrong way around then it really can only be #1 or #3 above..... and if it is #1 then I would have thought Walbro would have recalled or at least advised dealers.

Post the instructions and show us where it was wrong,.

Just to clarify. The problem was with the Full Throttle Instructions.Speed Inc.DID NOT sell it as a racetronix unit or imply in any way shape or form that it was anything other than a Walbro 255 packaged from Full Throttle.
