Default -6 crossover on Aeromotive rails okay to run for 1000rwhp?

Sorry guys I know it's the wrong section but I figured this is the best place to ask. I'm upgrading my fuel system to -8 feed lines, aeromotive rails etc. The crossover for the rails is going to the back of the intake. I tried to run a -8 crossover but the fittings hit the back of the firewall on the driver side. No matter which way I turn them it's no go. So will a -6 be suficient or do I have some other option-I'm not going to cut the firewall-that's for sure. Basically a -8 feeds the front of the rail on the passenger side-a -6 will be crossover from the back of the pasenger rail to the back of the driver rail and at the end of the driver rail is a magnafuel regulator which has a -6 out to the stock return line.

Will this cure my fuel pressure drop at wot.

Thanks!

Well, a -6 feed and crossover is sufficient for much more than 1000rwhp so you -should- be fine, but I generally like to keep the crossover the same size as the feed line.

I run a -10 feed into a -10 -8 -8 Y, into the rails then -8 back to each side of the regulator

seems to work pretty good

But your car isn't a C5-that's where my problem lies.

Why does that pose a problem? My fuel system would work just fine in a C5 far as im aware

It's becasue the firewall won't allow a -8 full flow swivel-it hits the rear firewall-that's the problem.

If the rails are pipe thread yo can cut them down a little and rethread them, or just use the pipe thread to hose 90 degree fittings. Might need a 3/8 pipe tap to get them to line up.

But I dont think a -6 on the crossover will hurt anything like Jim said..

It's the Aeromotive rail that uses a -8 inlet with a o-ring-so i can't cut it down. Damn C5's!!!!

I just said screw it. Took off the cowl and cut the fiberglass part for the -8 90 to clear-you'll never see it unless you look for it.

the o'ring fittings are common, strait NF thread sizes. 9/16", as I recall. Cut it off, run the tap down a bit, and life's good.

Man what a pain in the ***!!!! After cutting the cowl on the driver side I found the fitting on the passenger side also hit-it was a HUGE pain to get the manifold on!!!!! I don't know how the rest of the Vette guys are running rails or if this is just specific to the aeromotives? So basicaly my inlet is the passenger side front rail-the cross over is at the back-8 and the regulator is at the front of the driver side. Fired it up last night and checked for leaks and there was none-all seemed good. One thing that I did notice was that fuel pressure drops immediately after the car is shut down-Is this normal? I'm using a magnafuel boost refrenced fuel regulator.

Unless there's a check valve in the pump, or added into the feed line, the fp will drop quickly.
You could add a check between the pump outlet, and the feed line.
I don't suggest the check be in before the pump, as that will introduce uneeded restriction to pump supply.

wouldn't you want to add it on the return side? Mine does the same thing...

Even if you do a check valve most aftermarket regulators bleed down aweful quick, not even worth it IMO. The pump will turn on when the car is cranking, may take a few extra crank revolutions to fire it up but its not a big deal..

No check on the return. Doing so will create a blockage, and raise FP til something blows....

How? Doesn't a check valve allow however much fuel thru one way, but won't let it go back the other way?

Use two of these in the fuel rails and crossover with #6. You won't have any problems with the 3/8 crossover.

The problem with #8 is the size of the hose socket, too big to squeeze between the intake and firewall.

Mines exactly the same. 2 x 044 Bosch pumps, Magnafuel reg. Pressure drops as soon as pump stops.

No big deal. As long as it stays up when the pumps are running !!

Im using a single -8 Alu hardline to the front of the car, an Aero fuel dist block, then into a pair of -6 lines, one to each Aero rail. These then tee into a single -6 line to the Maganfuel reg, then to the tank.

My FP is rock solid at all times.
