Default 3.8 help

my car has a hard time starting, and sometimes after it starts, it shuts down. i have to give it a little rev and itll stay alive. after that, its fine. it will start like new the first time of the day, but after that it gets harder to start. it drives and idles fine. fuel pump??

It sounds like it could be the FPR. I take it you are not throwing any codes? Search L32 and L36 here:

Are you priming the pump before you try and crank it or are you just trying to crank it the first time?

It might not be fueling at all - hows the ignition system?

never heard of that site.......ill look into it.
your right, im not throwing any codes.
priming the pump????? it turns on fine when its cold...first start of the day.

Flip the ignition to run. That would be one postition towards the engine. Do not turn it any farther. You should hear the fuel pump prime - it is putting fuel to the rails. It takes a second or two, and when it is over there will be no more sound.

Then turn the car over.

Does it still have problems? Try it every time and see if it still fires ok the first time but not subsequent times.

This is how you are *supposed* to start the car every time, to prevent excess wear on the starter etc etc. Few people do it. But it is fairly obvious when the pump sputters, or it does not crank right even if it primes correctly.

its still acting the same. i understand what your saying, but shouldt it be the other way around? if the rails need fuel, it would be on the first start of the day wouldnt it??
