Default Sending Unit Question...

I recently went to my local U-Auto Pull it in the search of a Metal Tank for my 2001 Camaro. Well I found "the one" and got the tank with sending unit for 56 bucks Anyway, I did some searching and read that "the Metal Tank sending Unit will not work with a plastic tanked car". My question is Simple, How can I fab up something to know how much fuel I have? I still have my "plastic tank sending unit" can that be used somehow?

Thanks Blake

They are completely different senders size, fitments, values....Not really a good swap.

not completely sure but on some metal tanks they used the tank itself as the ground for the sender
