Default rearend cover

anyone know if the aftermarket rearend covers for the gm 10 bolt have a magnet in them like the stock cover are even do u need that magnet in the covers?

Atermarket covers like the TA cover do not have a magnet. I know all SLP cars that came with an aluminum AAM cover had a magnet that slid into the bottom of the housing but I have never seen anything offered to the public. Your best bet would be to stop by a Ford dealership and order a fill plug for a Mustang. Ford was smart enough to install a magnet in those.

yeah that magnet is great, how did they cut the grove in the housing and i thought that all the f body had them,but us f/h owners have a special magnet holder !!!!!!!!!!!!

It's casted in every f-body 10 bolt. I'm sure if you can find a magnet that will slide in that it wil lstay in place. Maybe even put some apoxy on it.

I stuck a little pill magnet to the tip of the plug on
the MAC cover. One I scavenged out of a dead
laptop hard drive. You could get one off one of
those magnetic pickup tools, etc. pretty cheap
if you're not knee-deep in computer junk.
