You mean a 9 BOLT? The answer to your question is yes, the suspension mounts are in the same locations.

i am glad you asked that question, I am about to swap my 10 bolt for a 12 bolt that is coming out of a 3rd gen. I was just curious as to if mine would bolt up to his car. Thanks

If you put a 4th gen rear in a third gen, the wheels will stick out like no other with stock backspacing.

the car it is being put on will have drags wheels on the back and is being sold anyways. I just wanted to make sure the 12 bolt out of a 3rd gen will work on my 4th gen. thanks for the info b/c I didn't know that

you need to make sure it is a modified 9 in swapped into the car or if it was 9 BOLT rear that was a borg warner optional rear that is an oddball of sorts this will help to identify if the swap is worth it

no he said 9" (as in 9" ford), not a 9 bolt...... hes asking for me, i had not been able to use my computer, but i found the rear in a local trading paper, it looks to be an aftermarket 9" rear, it has the TA bracket that bolts on in front of the center section (1bolt on top, 2 bolts on bottom), its coming out of an 89 TA, the guy is selling parts off of it before he takes it to sell for scrap, and dont he doesnt know anything about it, but he's selling cheap ($350 for 9" rear, LCAs, T.arm, PH bar), i figure i cant go wrong with it, even if i have to get gears, bearings, etc........... i was really wanting to get one from a gen 3 since theyre 1.5" narrower per side, i want to use the billet specialties "street lite" wheels but they dont have the correct offset for a standard width LT/LS rearend, however i thought the mounting points were the same, but i wasnt 100% sure, like to hear from anybody that has done the same

Head on over to thirdgen.org. Swapping 4th gen rears into third gens has been going on for years. The f body rear suspension has been basically the same since 1982.
