Unhappy crazy DS question

OK so Ive been in the A4 section for a while about this chuggin/lungin feeling in my drive train.
It came do wn to Moser *I have a 12moser3:73* saying that our cars came w/ 3 different size DS's and that my 1350 upgraded yoke are the problem.

orig post:

So my Q is ..... when any one has done a stock 10blt to Moser 12bolt on a stock 4l60e is it mandatory to mod/change your DS?

Moser says that ther is no way that the pinion back lash is out and that it has to be this issus, were as I have been told that my problem is BL.

The Moser 12 bolt takes the same length driveshaft as the factory 10 bolt. If the Moser rear came with a 1350 yoke then a Napa 447 u joint needs to be used. Bob

OK so I finaly got a day off and so....

with the car up in the air I put it in "N" and grabbed the DS, now Im not good at giving measurements BUT if I had to guess what the rotational distance that I moved the DS was I woukd say an inch maybe inch half before it ingaged the rear gears....

Does this mean my pinion lash is out?
Do I need to park it till I can find a german capable of fixing them or can I keep driving the car?

advise please

You should not have that much rotation back and forth when you rotate the driveshaft, unless you had a locker for the differential. I'd find that capable German and have him (or her) check it out for you. Bob
