Default Noob questions about rear end.

A few noob questions about the rears in these cars.

The stock rear end for a fourth gen F-body is 7.625 inch correct? But that is bad because it is weak and fragile, which is why many people go to a 9 inch or 8.8. When you talk about the "inch" size of the rear end what are you talking about? The diameter of the ring itself for the ring and pinion or what else?

And when people talk about ABS in the rear that has something to do with being a 4-channel or 3-channel? What does the channel part mean?

Sorry about the noob questions but your help would be greatly appreciated!

I belive the ABS 4 vs 3 is how many lines you have comming off your ABS mod. 3 chan is two to the front, and one to the rear, then its T'd off to each side, 4 chan will be two to the front and two to the rear. Was how I was explained when I asked. hopefuly someone else will chime in about the rear sizes, I am also courious to know.

they are the sizes of the ring gears. as to the 3 channel ABS, it doesn't T off, it just has a sensor on the diff.

Much appreciated. I thought it was the diameter of the ring. Thanks again.
