Default LT1 Rear in LS1 Car...How?

Ok so im trying to sell my rear end from my 1995 LT1 Trans Am w/ 3 ch abs to a guy with a 2000 LS1 Trans Am w/ 3ch abs and wondering if all the brakes and brackets will swap over. Already know that the axles are shorter and will need to be swapped. Thanks, Brad

axles are the same size as well as everything else, only difference will be if he has a 4 channel rear and your is 3 channel.

Detroitmuscle-the axles and brakes are both different. We are both 3 channel abs.
PERFECT Z28-I am aware of this. I just need to know if I can physically bolt on the ls1 brakes without any welding.

he should be able to reuse his backing plates off his current 10 bolt and that will allow him to bolt on his brakes no problem. The axles as I mentioned are the same size, every 4th gen rearend has the same length axles from the factory the only difference would be if it was a 4 channel rearend the axels would have provisions for the reluctor wheels.

No, I have some spare LS1 and LT1 axles sitting here and they are definatly different lengths. I beleive its because of the ls1's parking brake being inside the rear rotor.

Does anyone know if the backing plates will actually bolt up?

they should bolt right up, if the axles have any difference in length it must be from the different backing plates. All the rears are the same overall length so I assumed they would have the same axle length as well.

If everyone would spend 2 minutes and search for their answers on this board, we wouldn't end up with mind numbing post like this. I searched this forum with the word LT1and found at least 10 threads with the answer to your question.
