Question 9" Install - Initial Clean-up Question?

So the moser 9" was pretty greasy and such out of the box. I degreased the outside with some of the marine-clean by Por-15. I noticed in the instructions it says to clean the unit. Does that mean a really good cleaning inside and out? Especially the inner axle tubes?

I was afraid to get these areas wet since I didn't want them to rust.

It will be very dirty inside, make sure and clean it out with a rag and some brake clean or something, especially in the axle tube they drilled for the vent. If you are putting it in right away I wouldnt worry about it rusting, if you are really paranoid spray it with wd40 and wipe it off in there. Also when you go to install the studs into the housing put some silicone on them (see pic) or you may get some leaks around them..

thanks... that sounds like a good idea. What kind of silicone did you use? Was it something special like an RTV or a high-temp silicone or just plain old stuff...

I'm better with a brand and desc... I never claimed to be the brightest star in the sky when it comes to cars

just whatever RTV I had laying around, I believe it was permatex ultra copper but any rtv sealer will work.
