Default Trouble re-installing driveshaft

I recently removed the driveshaft & torque arm to replace the clutch. Now that I'm trying to re-install the driveshaft, I'm having issues getting one side of the U-joint to line up 100%. I forgot to support the rear end while removing the driveshaft/torque arm, so I assume the rear must have shifted slightly.
The one side of the U-joint lines up perfectly, but the other side has a 1/4" gap, no matter how much I lift/drop the rear end. I tried to just torque down the bolts, but all that did was start to bend the clamp.

Is there a trick to this? Or do I have to just keep trying to shift the rear around until it fits?

Here is a reference to the problem I'm having (obviously this isn't the actual driveshaft I'm using):

This may be a silly question, but can you slid the driveshaft rearward a little?

The driveshaft is slid rearward as far as possible.

Did you install the torque arm first?

I have tried getting the U-joint to fit with the torque arm both on and off. It didn't seem to make any difference.

I was tempted to try that, but I was afraid it would damage something. I guess I'll give that a try later since nothing else seems to be working.

Make sure you squeeze the u-joint caps together. The lock rings on them slip inside the yoke. If one is sticking out it will hit on the yoke.

Well I found the problem. A few of the roller bearings inside the cap came loose and were just wedged inside the bottom of the cap. I couldn't see the loose rollers because of the grease. So that was causing the cap to sit on the U-joint on a slight angle. I bought a new U-joint/caps and everything fit perfectly.
Thank you, everybody, for your help.
