Default Complete swap: 273 A4 - 342 M6

Do the carriers/channels matter as far as throwing codes or ABS not working?

The rears in question....

2000 Z28 A4 273 = ??????
2000 SS M6 342 = 3 series carrier 4 channel

I will be completely dropping one rear and bolting the other one in.

I removed the stock 4 chanel 2.73 rear from my 2002 Z/28 and replaced it with a stock 4 channel 3.42 rear from a M6 car of unknown build date and had no problems.

if channel is same, should be a simple swap. if channel is different, can't be 'bolt-in' swap as controls and system are different and not compatable.

putting a 3 channel complete rearend in a 4 channel car,you will lose TC AND ABS and the dash light for ABS & TC will be on.
A 3 channel rearend can be converted to 4 channel by swapping the axles and backing plates.
