Question 2001 SS M6 limited slip

Guys I have a 2001 SS M6 and stock 10 bolt. Sometimes when I take off while turning to the right, the right wheel spins but the limited slip doesn't catch and spin the other tire as well. As long as I'm going nearly straight or to the left it catches and spins both rear tires. What I am wondering is if this is normal for one (I don't think it is) and if its not what might be causing it. I have been told that some ss's came with a clutch type LSD and some LSDs with a worm gear. Supposedly the worm gear doesn't wear out or at least not as badly. Anybody have a clue what might be my problem?

from the factory assembly line,98s' and earlier got Auburn,99s' and later got Torsen.
Being that it's a SS,It could have received something else as an option at SLP. The SLP option sheet or contacting SLP with your VIN will tell if it was changed.

or supply a pic of the internals.

To be honest I didn't think about SLP possibly switching it out for something else - I figured whatever came from the factory would be what it was, but I couldn't find anywhere to identify what it SHOULD be. That helps though. Do you have an idea whether (if it has the torsen) it should be spinning only the right tire when turning right? Any other time (turning left or nearly straight) it seems to work well. I'm just trying to find out if thats normal or if it's going out on me. I appreciate your help!

This is the nature of the stock Torsen, it only splits torque up
to 2:1. After that it spins whatever wants to spin. And since
the ratio of stuck to sliding tire friction is right about there,
give or take, any axle roll at all can give you a one-wheel peel.
You get right tire lift anyway, and a right turn doubles down
on that, making the right wheel first to spin.

Now when it spins one, that means the chunk has to let slip
under power and that makes shavings. Found plenty in mine,
early on (<30K) and upgraded just for luck. The higher-bias
T-2R either doesn't spin at all, or spins both - exceeds the
mu-split by plenty.

But spinning both is bad for directional stability and my belief
is that GM wanted the low-split-ratio rear to keep idiots out
of ditches. Or at least say they tried.

jimmy i'd say you're right about GM wanting to keep people out of ditches. Sure cuts down on the fun factor though. I had thought about switching to a powertrax but probably will be down the road a little
