Driveshaft question

Driveshaft question
I'm looking into buying a Denny's NR driveshaft and was wondering if the upgrade to a billet trans slip yoke is a worthwhile investment rigth away or upgrade to it when i step up in power. I will be running in the mid-high 11's so that will give you an idea of where i'll be powerwise.

I didn't get the billet yoke. I've 60ft'd in the mid 1.4's with an M6, I also launch at 6000-6600 spraying out of the hole. If I havent broke it yet I would say you would be fine with the standard yoke.

I just ordered my DS today and the guys at Dennys are great to work w/. They answered all my questions plus more. I asked about the upgaded billet yoke and it is only used when you upgrade to a viper T-56 outputshaft in your trans because its a 30 spline slip yoke.

The Billet yoke probably is NOT necessary especially if you have a automatic car. As a side note if you have a driveshaft made you need a 41 inch long driveshaft if you have an M6 or 4L60E. This is measured from the CENTERLINE of the ujoint in the yoke to centerline of the ujoint that connects directly to the rear end. In our SPECIFIC case since we are running a TURBO 350 with a 6 inch tranny tailshaft instead of the 9 inch tranny tailshaft, our driveshaft is 44 inches long instead. The 6 inch tranny tailshaft is much stronger.
Our driveshaft was made out of .083 mild steel (wall thickess) with 1350 UJOINT on rear end end and standard size ujoint on YOKE end. The UJOINTS are BRUTE FORCE and are SOLID (sealed no grease fittings) which are also much stronger. The driveshaft is 3 inches in diameter and with these specs will hold up to 8000 RPM and 850HP which is enough for now.
For you local TEXAS boys. Ours was made by Automotive Driveline 817-284-8187. They are in Euless.

I got my Nitrous Ready DS w/ the billet yoke just to err on the side of caution. I think the whole thing came out to about $325 shipped. I've had zero problems with it. It's held up very well launching my 3800# TA (on Nittos though with some weak 1.6/1.7 60's).
It may very well be overkill but if you can afford it, why not?

Each car needs to be measured independently, because any slight variation could potentially be harmful.
Also, Denny's has a lifetime labor and replacement warranty. If you EVER twist it or break the welds, they will replace it! You just can't beat that!
