Default Removal of backing plates?

I have a 12 bolt rear that i need to take the backing plates off. What is the process of getting them off? They are going on a 9 inch rear.

axles have to come out, bearings and retaining rings have to be pressed off of the axles, then backing plate will be removeable.

Bearings can be re-used if still good, retaining(also called marriage/wedding) ring shouldn't be re-used due to safety concerns.
