Default 10 bolt needs full rebuild, should I go for it?

I just had the rear end shop take a look at the 10 bolt in my 02 TA. I need both axles, all the bearings and the teath on the posi unit have spaling so its making a slight clanking noise at low speeds. What is the most cost effective way to rebuild these? What parts supplier would have the best prices on the parts? I got a quote from the shop for about $800 for an auburn posi, both axles and all the seals and bearings.

I would not waste $800.00 on a little 7.5". Buy a used one for a few $100.00 bucks, or step up to 9" but that will over double your $800.00

You can get a housing and axles for a little under $1000 for a 9in. Then find a center section. Problem solved. Yea costs more, but don't have to worry about your rear end ever again.

Yes its hard to know for sure, but there out there. That was just my opinion. On the other hand I guess $800.00 is not too bad? Its lasted for over 10 years right? If you dont beat it to hard, it should last another 10 years. Is the car a stick or auto? I myself like to side step the clutch at about 4500rpm with DR's. I dont like living in fear...lol
